Product description

GMB tie rod end

GMB's tie rod end has moderate friction torque and rotational movement, enabling smooth operation of the vehicle. In addition, it responds appropriately to irregular changes in the road surface, supporting stable vehicle performance and a secure ride.
In order to realize these, GMB uses a resin sheet (POM: ACETAL) with excellent friction resistance and special synthetic grease between the ball of the ball joint to minimize friction, and a dust cover. We are working to extend the life of the tie rod end by using muddy water permeation prevention grease inside the (dustproof cover).
At Thai GMB, we carry out static tests, destructive tests, and durability tests required during development to ensure product reliability.
Ride quality and safety are guaranteed by thorough quality control, in parallel with appropriate heat treatment and thorough acceptance inspection of special steel, and voluntary inspection and patrol inspection in each manufacturing process.

Tie rod end function

The tie rod end is a device that transmits the steering force from the steering wheel to the wheels, absorbs the impact and vibration caused by changes in the road surface, and maintains the operational stability of the vehicle. The wheel side is composed of ball joints for vertical vibration of the wheel due to uneven road surface and rotation of the wheel during running. There is a screw on the side of the car body for connecting to the tie rod end, and the toe-in, which is one of the alignment elements, can be adjusted by rotating the tie rod end or rack end ball stud connected to this screw. I will.

Tie rod end structure

The tie rod end is composed of ball joints on the wheel side and screws on the vehicle body side.
Depending on the wheel design, there is a female thread type male thread type, which is connected to the tie rod end.
The ball joint has a ball stud inside, and a resin ball sheet is assembled between the housing and the ball stud. Furthermore, after applying special synthetic grease to the inner surface of the ball sheet to prevent friction of the ball studs, a plug (cap) is inserted to prevent grease leakage and the housing is crimped.
A rubber dust cover filled with grease is attached to the opposite side of the plug to prevent grease leakage and intrusion of muddy water.
Tie rod ends that use resin ball sheets do not require refueling of grease except during manufacturing.
The ball stud has a shaft that is tapered for connection to the wheel and a fixing screw.
